High School Athletics

Attica High School and Junior High School are small 1A schools and are members of the Heart of the Plains League (HOPL).  The HOPL is a ten member league composed of Attica, Burrton, Central Christian of Hutchinson, Cunningham, Fairfield, Norwich, Pretty Prairie, Skyline, South Barber, and Stafford.

Both schools are also governed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA). Information on KSHSAA follows:

KSHSAA

The purpose of the Kansas State High School Activities Association is to contribute to the education of the high school boys and girls of Kansas by:  administering a program of interscholastic activities, festivals, clinics and contests among member schools; elevating the standards of good sportsmanship and encouraging the growth of good citizenship; not only for high school boys and girls, but also for adults and all others who come into contact with school activities; protecting member schools from exploitation by special interests; encouraging pride in scholastic achievement as a fundamental basis for a well-balanced activity program; serving the best interests of all member schools by influencing the proper type of legislation or any other desirable means.

PURPOSE:  To administer a program of interscholastic activities, festivals, clinics and contests among member schools; to elevate standards of good sportsmanship; and to encourage the growth of good citizenship among students and spectators.

Legislative authority is vested in a Board of Directors composed of approximately 75 members representing senior high leagues, independent schools, middle/junior high school principals or superintendents and allied professional organizations, with a guarantee of gender and minority/ethnic groups.

The management of the affairs of the association is vested in the Executive Board consisting of eleven members.  Each administrative staff members handles certain responsibilities and may be contacted with the information that follows:
