Junior High Awards

School Spelling Bee
February 2012

The School Spelling Bee features competition between students grades 5-8. The students compete with others in their class to determine the top three spellers. The top three spellers from each grade then advance to one combined grades 5-8 spelling bee. The combined spelling bee is then utilized to determine the top three spellers from the school. The top three spellers from the school are sent to compete in the Harper County Spelling Bee.

The top three spellers grades 5-8 from all of the elementary schools in Harper County compete at Attica Public Schools for the opportunity to be the top speller in the county. The winner then attends the State Spelling Bee held in Topeka.


Junior High Awards Program
May 17, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

The Junior High Awards Program is held the morning before the 8th Grade Graduation. The program provides the opportunity to recognize students grades 6-8 for their hard work and dedication in the classroom in addition to their extracurricular activities. Athletic awards consist of letters and medals. The criteria for the athletic awards have been established by the coaches. Academic and activity awards include certificates, letters or medals depending upon the award. The criteria for the academic and activity awards have been established by the instructors and sponsors.

 

QPA Awards Program

In 2004-2005, Attica USD 511 began a new awards program to honor students who score well on the Kansas Assessment Tests. Students who score at the proficient level receive a certificate, an academic letter, and a bronze academic medal. Students who score at the advanced level receive a certificate, an academic letter and a silver academic medal. Students who score at the exemplary level receive a certificate, an academic letter, and a gold academic medal.

As an extra incentive to score well on the Kansas Assessments, each student that scores proficient, advanced, or exemplary receives a day out of school.
